Orton Gillingham
Reading Strategies
The Orton-Gillingham method is a way of directly teaching letter/sound relationships.
Using a variety of multisensory strategies, this method starts at the basic phonics level and increases incrementally at a pace that is best for the student while maintaining comprehension.
This method of learning is very beneficial to the student who is struggling with sounding words out consistently. This strategy works great for dyslexia support with long lasting impact.
It is most effective with at least two lessons a week. (50 minutes)
Reading Strategies
The Reading Strategies class is for the student that can sound many words out well but needs help with comprehension. These students are on grade level or near to grade level in their abilities.
The student will be trained in various strategies and given opportunities to practice these strategies with support. We use a variety of texts and novels.
