Reading Strategies
Tutoring
Beginning Reading
Your student will spend time focused on phonics and decoding. Your student will improve with using sight words and fluency. Comprehension strategies will be taught.

Reading Strategies
This class is for the student that can sound words out well, but needs help with comprehension. The student will be trained in various strategies and given opportunity to practice these strategies with support.

Orton-Gillingham Reading Tutoring
The Orton-Gillingham method is a method of directly teaching letter/sound relationships. It starts at a very basic level and increases incrementally. It uses a variety of multi-sensory strategies to help the student apply the knowledge to reading and spelling. The student will also have opportunity to practice comprehension strategies.

This methodology is very beneficial to the student who is struggling, especially with sounding words out. It is most effective with two lessons a week.

English as a Second Language
Beginning ESL

This ESL class begins where your student is able. It is designed for even the newest English students. Each class includes vocabulary, reading, conversation, and cultural considerations.

Advanced ESL

Advanced ESL is for the older or more advanced English learner. There is a greater focus on specific vocabulary, literacy, conversation, professional communication, and cultural considerations.

Adult ESL

Adult ESL is a class designed especially for adults. The learner is evaluated on their speaking, listening, reading, and writing abilities. The lessons are individually designed to cater to the learner's immediate needs.
